Sunday 06.26.16 (in Christ)

This Sunday we’ll take a look at Ephesians 1:1-14 and see what it means to have an identity that is based in Christ (a favorite term of Paul’s in our passage). Then Sunday night we’ll dive into  chapter 2 of our I Will study: “I Will Worship with Others.” We hope to see you there!

In Christ ~ Ephesians 1:1-14

  • žWe are to joyfully worship God for who he has made us in Christ (1:3)
  • žSix realities about our identity in Christ that give us reason to joyfully praise God:
    • He has made us holy and blameless (1:4)
    • He adopted us into his family (1:5-6)
    • He redeemed us from our debt of sin (1:7-8)
    • He revealed to us his plan to save people from all the nations in Christ (1:8-10)
    • He has provided us an inheritance (1:11-12)
    • He has sealed us with his Holy Spirit (1:13-14)

Sunday 06.05.16 (the good news of Jesus)

This Sunday we’ll take a look at Mark 1:1-20, remembering who Jesus is as our Savior-King and what that means for our lives. Then on Sunday night we’ll kick off our study of I Will by Thom Rainer. See below for the planned schedule for the study. Hope to see you there!

The Good News of Jesus ~ Mark 1:1-20

  • žThe gospel of Jesus Christ (1:1)
  • Jesus baptizes us with the Holy Spirit, therefore you are to live daily in the power of the Spirit (1:2-8)
  • žJesus is God’s beloved son, therefore rest in him for your “well-pleased” identity (1:9-11)
  • žJesus is victorious over temptation, therefore trust in him for help against temptation (1:12-13, cf. Matthew 4)
  • žJesus fulfills God’s plan and proclaims the gospel, therefore repent and believe (1:14-15)

To the Ends of the Earth ~ Psalm 67

  • A prayer for God’s blessing (67:1)
    • This prayer echoes Numbers 6:23-27, asking for God to supply his people with joy, protection, grace, and peace
    • To be blessed is to be made happy by God through the fullness of Jesus
    • The ultimate purpose of blessing is that God might bring joy to us by displaying his glory through us which will bring joy to others
  • Blessed by God we are to take God’s blessing to others:
    • We are to make the way of God known… (67:2)
    • …to multiply praise to God throughout the world (67:3-7)
    • …to multiply joy in God throughout the world (67:4)

Sunday 04.03.16 (the will of God)

This Sunday we’ll take a look at Romans 8:26-39 and the idea of God’s will for our lives. Then that evening we have the first of two post-Easter Revive! sessions with Rick Thompson from Cornerstone Baptist in Nevada, MO, teaching on the topic of Missions and Evangelism. Hope to see you there!

The Will of God ~ Romans 8:26-39

  • God’s will is for your greatest good–your eternal glorification and Christ-likeness (8:28-30)
  • You learn to walk daily in God’s will by:
    • Spending time each day in prayer (8:26-27)
    • Trusting God to use every circumstance for your good (8:28)
    • Reminding yourself of the promise: in Christ God is for you (8:31-39)

Sunday 03.20.16 (no turning back)

This Sunday we’ll take a look at Isaiah 31 and how we are to trust God and not man with our present and our future, and not turn back to the fleeting comforts we found when enslaved to sin. Then that evening we will be joining with FBC Rich Hill for an Awana pizza party followed by night three of Revive! with Tony Jones of FBCRH speaking on praise and worship. We hope to see you there!

  • Don’t trust the strength of even the strongest of men or nations (31:1-3)
  • Don’t desire to return to the “comforts” of your past (31:1)
  • Seek God in all that you do (31:1)
  • Place your trust in the protection that God provides (31:4-5, 8-9)
  • Repent of the idols that seek to turn you away (31:6-7)

Sunday 03.13.16 (living in hope)

This Sunday we’ll take a look at the song of praise Isaiah penned in his 25th chapter and see what it says about living in the hope of eternal salvation. Then that evening at 6pm we will have our second night of Revive! with Malachi O’Brien teaching on prayer. Hope to see you there!

  • We sing because God is our Salvation and he has turned away his wrath (12:1-2)

  • We sing because drinking deep from the well of salvation produces greater joy (12:3)
  • We sing because God is glorious and the world needs to know his deeds (12:4-5)
  • We sing because God is great in our midst (12:6)
