Praying the Bible ~ Acts 22:8

Praying through verses or passages of the Bible is a great way to help you pray according to the will and desires of God. Below is a passage of Scripture and a sample prayer. I would encourage you to pray that prayer, or, even better, read the passage and pray as God leads you.

Text: Acts 22:8
“And I answered, ‘Who are you, Lord?’ And he said to me, ‘I am Jesus of Nazareth, whom you are persecuting.'” (English Standard Version)

Prayer
Lord, we thank you that you identify as one with your church. You are the head and we are the body. We thank you that we have not had to face persecution in our land as many have in the world. May we use our freedom to think more regularly about our brothers and sisters in the world who do face persecution daily. We pray for those who have lost home, family, job, and freedom because of governments and others who are opposed to you. We pray for the friends and family of believers who have lost their lives. We ask, Lord, that you would bring comfort and peace and strength. That you would strengthen the witness of those who are faithful in the face of danger. That you would set their minds and hearts on the greater joys of heaven. Lord, make their lives an encouragement for us to follow you, no matter the cost. Amen.
