Worship – Psalm 9 (Psalm Saturday)

I will thank the Lord with all my heart; I will declare all your wondrous works. I will rejoice and boast about you; I will sing about your name, Most High.

Psalm 9:1-2, Christian Standard Bible

We worship the God “who sits enthroned forever” (9:7), the God who “judges the world with righteousness” (9:8). To worship to to declare worth. What does this worship look like?

David gives a simple description in four parts: Heartfelt thanksgiving, declaration of wonder, rejoicing, and singing.

We thank God because he is the one who gives all things good. We declare because he is wonderful and he does great and mighty things. We rejoice because God gave us Jesus to bring us into the everlasting joy of never-ending life. We sing because God has given us voices to declare his goodness and beauty with beauty.

Such worship should saturate our lives, through the ups and downs. Even in the most difficult of times, we worship because God is greater, he has promised greater, and he will fulfill what he has promised.
