God is the Great Judge over all people.
In places like the Psalms, we read passages of lament where the evil in the world seem to have the upper hand. Some, then, questions: Will God really judge? This proverb reminds us that yes, he will. It might not be today or tomorrow. He may withhold the penalty due for the moment, but the day is coming where if the wicked do not repent, they will fall under God’s judgement.
The Bible also tells us that each of us are responsible for our own lives. Yet, we tend to have great influence over our children and grandchildren. Ultimately, they will stand or fall before God based on their own lives and faith, but by living lives pursuing Christ and loving them, we can influence them away from sin.
Our hope for the generations of our offspring is that they might know Jesus and not fall under the same judgment as the unrepentant sinner. How does your life and faith build a positive influence and good example for your children and grandchildren?
