Proverbs 11:20 (a proverb a day)

For the month of May, we’ll take a brief look at 31 wise sayings from Proverbs 11, that’s one proverb a day…

Those with twisted minds are detestable to the Lord, but those with blameless conduct are his delight.

Proverbs 11:20, Christian Standard Bible

God hates sin. It is the opposite of his goodness. It is a disease that infects and destroys what he made good. God, however, delights in blamelessness. Blameless conduct is what preserves his good designs.

The amazing thing is, however, that God himself is the one who makes our conduct blameless. As Ephesians 1:4 says, “For he chose us in [Christ], before the foundation of the world, to be holy and blameless in love before him.”

When Jesus went to the cross to give us righteousness and life, God gave himself so the twisted could become blameless by faith. He gave himself in order to put his love and delight upon us. This is the great blessing of grace.
