We need the perspective of others, especially on big decisions.
We tend to be an independent people. We like to go it on our own. Yet, if we devote ourselves to ignoring other people’s advice, they day will come when we will wish we would have listened.
And the counselors we have around us shouldn’t be all yes men. Often, we need to hear an opposing perspective. Even if they don’t change our minds, they might help us to see something from a new perspective or with greater clarity. They might help make the results of our choice better by leading us to a greater understanding.
