For the month of May, we’ll take a brief look at 31 wise sayings from Proverbs 11, that’s one proverb a day…
A city is built up by the blessing of the upright, but it is torn down by the mount of the wicked.Proverbs 11:11, Christian Standard Bible
That is the consistent teaching of Scripture when speaking about leadership, whether in the church, at home, or with the government. Leaders are people of influence and their character tends to have a trickle-down impact.
While other skills can help sharpen a leader’s ability and make him or her more successful, they will fail in the end if good character is not present. Those who seek to live with righteousness and integrity are the ones who “build up.”
If you are a leader, pursue high character and be a positive influence on those around you. If you support other leaders, choose those whose integrity will be a good influence on others.
