Proverbs 11:8 (a proverb a day)

For the month of May, we’ll take a brief look at 31 wise sayings from Proverbs 11, that’s one proverb a day…

The righteous one is rescued from trouble; in his place, the wicked one goes in.

Proverbs 11:8, Christian Standard Bible

In a broken world, we all experience bad things. For God’s people, however, the bad things are temporary. Rescue will one day come. The sad will come untrue. The wrongs will be made right.

We have this hope because the Righteous One, Jesus, walked into the place of the wicked, us. The great exchange through the cross: Jesus took our sin, faced the wrath of God, and gave us by faith his righteousness and goodness.

He was also rescued from that day of trouble. Righteous in himself, the grave would not forever hold him. As he walked out when the stone rolled away on the third day, he declared victory and he opened the way for us to be rescued and have victory as well.
