Proverbs 11:6 (a proverb a day)

For the month of May, we’ll take a brief look at 31 wise sayings from Proverbs 11, that’s one proverb a day…

The righteousness of the upright rescues them, but the treacherous are trapped by their own desires.

Proverbs 11:6, Christian Standard Bible

We all get into sticky situations. Maybe someone accuses us of something. Maybe we took a right turn when we should have taken a left. Maybe we have a moment of panic and make a poor decision. Maybe we’re just in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Solomon spoke of rescue. He didn’t specify rescue from what, but the principle is clear: When we strive to walk in uprightness and integrity, we’ll make it through the sticky situation. It’s those who walk in sin that ultimately become trapped.

Character matters and good character, by the grace of God, will see us through.
