Sermon Notes
A Life that Satisfies ~ Ecclesiastes 1:1-18
- Introduction (1:1, 12-18)
- Learn to see and live for God’s glory, even in the mundane (1:1-6)
- Life is filled with a lot of mundane repetition, of which we can ask:
- “What’s the point?” and be dissatisfied
- Or, “How can God use my normal day for his glory?” and find purpose (1 Cor 10:31)
- God created the rhythms of our days/lives to see and seek him (Acts 17:24-28)
- Life is filled with a lot of mundane repetition, of which we can ask:
- Treasure Jesus as supreme and marvel in awe at what he gives you (1:7-8)
- Life is filled with things that cannot satisfy, so we consume and are left wanting more
- Jesus offers himself as the greatest treasure and perfect satisfaction (Jn 6:26-27, 35; Mt 13:44-46)
- Strive to leave a legacy that makes an eternal difference (1:4, 9-11)
- Life is filled with things to be forgotten, including our life’s work
- Things that will last include: God (Psm 90:1-2), the gospel (Rev 14:6), people—either in joy and satisfaction or in sorrow and loss (Mt 25:46), so who will you tell about Jesus?
