These Days ~ Matthew 24:1-14
What does Jesus tell us to expect about the nature and course of the world until he returns and how should we respond?
- Expect
- False messiahs to arise and to attempt to lead people astray (24:4-5)
- Wars, rumors of wars, and natural disasters (24:6-8)
- Tribulation (painful trials) due to persecution (24:9)
- Some who claim to follow Jesus to turn away (24:10-11)
- Increasing lawlessness and a growing lack of love (24:12)
- God’s people to faithfully endure (24:13)
- The gospel to spread to the far reaches of the world and people to be saved (24:14)
- How should we respond?
- Learn to trust God’s word in order to not be deceived (24:23)
- Anticipate Jesus’ return (24:36-42, 25:1-13)
- Serve with what God has given you (24:43f, 25:14-30)
- Serve for the good of others (25:31-46)
