This Sunday we’ll take a look at Matthew 24:1-14 and see what Jesus tells us to expect from these days in which we live until he returns. Sunday evening we’ll continue our journey through 2 Corinthians for our Winter Bible Study. Hope to see you there!

These Days ~ Matthew 24:1-14

What does Jesus tell us to expect about the nature and course of the world until he returns and how should we respond?

  • Expect
    • False messiahs to arise and to attempt to lead people astray (24:4-5)
    • Wars, rumors of wars, and natural disasters (24:6-8)
    • Tribulation (painful trials) due to persecution (24:9)
    • Some who claim to follow Jesus to turn away (24:10-11)
    • Increasing lawlessness and a growing lack of love (24:12)
    • God’s people to faithfully endure (24:13)
    • The gospel to spread to the far reaches of the world and people to be saved (24:14)
  • How should we respond?
    • Learn to trust God’s word in order to not be deceived (24:23)
    • Anticipate Jesus’ return (24:36-42, 25:1-13)
    • Serve with what God has given you (24:43f, 25:14-30)
    • Serve for the good of others (25:31-46)
