Sermon Notes
From Ichabod to Ebenezer ~ 1 Samuel 4-7
The presence of God destroys our heart-idols and restores us to true worship…
- Idolatry always leads to ruin (1 Samuel 4)
- The presence of God smashes our idols and demands our obedience (1 Samuel 5:1-7:2)
- We need to repent and trust in God (7:3-17)
- Our realities:
- Jesus himself is our Ark and our Ebenezer (stone of remembrance that God has helped us; Hebrews 9:1-10:25)
- When we repent and trust in Jesus, we receive the Holy Spirit–God’s presence and glory in our lives
