Sermon Notes
Gospel-Centered Families ~ Ephesians 5:22-6:4
Paul’s great concern was that families be centered on and reflective of Jesus and his gospel.

  • Four Commands:
    • To the wife: submit to your husband
    • To the husband: love and lead your wife in a self-sacrificing, Jesus-mimicking way
    • To the child: honor and obey your parents
    • To the parent: train your child in the Lord
  • What this takes:
    • A love for Christ above all else
    • A desire for the best in others
    • A trust that those you love have your best in heart
      • Wives: submit to your husbands, trusting him to follow God’s command to love, nourish, and care for you
      • Husbands: lead your wives, trusting God to work in your heart
      • Children: honor your parents, trusting they are doing their best to guide you with wisdom, love, and grace
      • Parents: train your children, trusting that your work is at the very least planting seeds of the gospel in their heart
