Gospel-Centered Families ~ Ephesians 5:22-6:4
Paul’s great concern was that families be centered on and reflective of Jesus and his gospel.
- Four Commands:
- To the wife: submit to your husband
- To the husband: love and lead your wife in a self-sacrificing, Jesus-mimicking way
- To the child: honor and obey your parents
- To the parent: train your child in the Lord
- What this takes:
- A love for Christ above all else
- A desire for the best in others
- A trust that those you love have your best in heart
- Wives: submit to your husbands, trusting him to follow God’s command to love, nourish, and care for you
- Husbands: lead your wives, trusting God to work in your heart
- Children: honor your parents, trusting they are doing their best to guide you with wisdom, love, and grace
- Parents: train your children, trusting that your work is at the very least planting seeds of the gospel in their heart
